Where can an operator obtain the training required to become a certified forklift operator?
-The employer is responsible for implementing a training program and insure that only trained drivers who have successfully completed the training program are allowed to operate powered industrial trucks.
-An evaluation of each trained operator must be conducted during initial training , at least once every three years and after refresher training . The training and evaluation may be conducted by the employer , if qualified , or an outside training organization.

What type of training is required?
The training must be a combination of formal demonstration (lecture , video , handout sheets etc. and practical exercises ) and operator performance evaluation in the workplace . Truck related and workplace-related topics must be included , along with the requirements of OSHA standard. The specific training topics are listed in the standard.
Does OSHA , site or penalize companies when they find an employee operating a forklift without safety training?
Yes , Osha will site your business if an employee is operating a forklift and has no safety training , this penalty fee is per operator. The amount depends on circumstance and severity of the violations.
OSHA inspections are done randomly , also with a complaint or due to an accident
